When my cat is particularly playful, at night or early in the morning, and she wants to play with me she touches my face quickly with her paw. Maybe I should say she punches me in the face – it’s a quick and gentle punch. It is strong just enough to wake me up all terrified about my eyes.
It is something I don’t expect in the safety of my home and I do fear for my eyes getting accidentally scratched. This behavior has disturbed me for quite some time. I think she learned about 6 months ago that I immediately react after she does this paw punch so it is one of her favorite ways to tease me.
I swear my cat does things just to annoy me :)). She knows exactly how to provoke my reaction and she does it on purpose!
My way of solving it was to get up, sometimes in the middle of the night, put her in the hallway and close the door. I rarely sleep the whole night through since I got my cat.
When I was particularly lazy or sleepy I would just cover my eyes with my hand and it was kinda helpful. But you know that when you fall asleep you don’t control your body so it’s not the best solution.
Yesterday I was doing some shopping and as I approached the cashier I had to pass by some shelves with various small items displayed. They make everything in order to get as much money from us as possible and I must admit it works.
As there was a waiting queue naturally I looked at these small things. And there was the perfect solution to my problem of my cat waking me up at night wanting to play. A cat nap sleep mask!
And it was a cat shaped sleeping mask, what a perfect match :).
It was so cute and inexpensive that I grabbed it right away. And people I have to tell you that it works!
This very night Puffy tried to tease me and punch me gently in the face – she already woke me with her running around so I put my sleeping mask on. I had a protection on my face this time so I could go back to sleep with no worries or fear for my eyes.
It was such a relief. I am so pleased with my purchase!
Besides protecting me from cat claws or cat punches while I sleep this sleeping mask will serve me on my travels. I travel a lot by bus so I sleep a lot during the driving. This cat sleep mask will protect me from the too bright sun shining through the bus windows when you can’t just pull the curtain as it shines from a row or two in front of you. Using it provides me the required darkness to sleep without disturbing the other passengers.
A cat nap sleeping mask can also help you if you sleep together with someone who likes a morning sun. No more fighting about too bright light in the morning with your partner or friend on vacations! If the question What to do when my cat wakes me up in the morning? has occurred to you more than once well this could be one of your answers on this matter.
So if your cat wakes you up at 3am for a game in a manner similar to mine then I definitely recommend that you get yourself a sleeping mask. It can be any shape but I definitely prefer a cat shaped one.
Cat Proof Sleep Mask

This cat sleeping mask is a great choice, it has double sided silk made of 100% top quality natural mulberry silk on BOTH sides so it will feel gentle on the skin. It is also lightweight and breathable. It will protect from light perfectly, it has an adjustable strap with no squeezing on the head. The strap is designed to hold firm even when your head turns and it won’t fall off.
I use mine only in the early morning, like 5 am when my cat is in playing mode but this mask can be worn through the whole night. I can imagine that if you live with someone who likes to read in bed or types on a laptop till late at night this mask will be of huge help.
These sleeping masks are so inexpensive that it is really a shame not to at least try one in your life and see if it will improve the quality of your sleep. And we all know how sleep is vital to functioning properly during the day.
