how to get cat hair out of carpet

The other day I just learned about the best cat hair removal hack ever! If you wonder how to remove cat hair from carpet without vacuum this is one of the best solutions.

Anyone who has a cat best knows how cat hair spreads everywhere. And I mean everywhere.

I am personally bothered mostly when it is on my carpet and on my clothes.

Most of the time I wear black pants so you can imagine how visible cat hair is on me. And as it usually happens I always promise to get that sticky tape for cat hair removable and I always forget it.

I don’t know about you, but for me, carpet cat hair cleaning is the hardest. I vacuum and vacuum and vacuum the same square for ages and it takes me hours to clean a really small carpet. Not to mention doing this activity in summer is especially exhausting because of the heat (I still don’t have air condition as I am one of those people who are always cold so I don’t really need it except for a few days in a year).

This week I went to get medication for my stray dog downstairs my building and I learned such a useful trick for cleaning cat hair – and it is the cheapest way possible and I bet you have it in your home right now!

How To Get Cat Hair Out Of Carpet (Or Couch Or Clothes)

I believe that what I am about to show you is the fastest and easiest way how to get cat hair out of the carpet!  So here is an example of how my carpet looked – full of cat hair all over. And it happens in no time, especially if the cat is shedding.

Now here is the most simple magical trick:

A plain and simple sellotape can do an amazing job at removing cat hair from your carpet, couch or clothes. Just follow and be convinced:

Here is how much hair it was able to collect in a single swipe compared to the black background – the cat had to be involved of course 😀

Check on the last image in the right bottom corner how clean is my carpet after applying it a few times over the surface. And it requires less effort and nerves than the standard vacuuming of those sticky cat hair. Not to mention that every household has a sellotape and if not then it is surely very cheap and easy to get it.

A plain and simple sellotape will do a fantastic job, the price is ridiculously cheap and most likely you already have it in your home. But if not I highly recommend you try it at least once and feel all the benefits.

Use Sellotape To Protect Your Office Chair From Cat Scratches

I have actually found the sellotape to be very useful for other cat related things too. My cat, Puffy, was scratching my home chair like crazy and I didn’t know how to stop her. Well, good old sellotape to the rescue! Wrapping it around the top part of the chair has proven to be a perfect solution.

It doesn’t look the best but it is efficient! And that is what’s most important for me.

To tell you truth I am still surprised how well does a sellotape go with a cat :)) and how useful it can be! Just for comparison of what a cheap solution this is I am showing you the quantity and the price of a sellotape versus a ready-made cat tape:

The sellotape is just as efficient as the cat hair tape and so much cheaper when you compare how much material you get

Of course, if you are in public you would use the cat hair tape (in your purse for example) but for home use, the sellotape works perfectly good.

I hope you find this crazy good cat hair removal hack just as useful as I did!

Wash Your Carpets Once A Year

At minimum! Honestly, no matter how much you clean after your pet you still can’t replace a total wash of the carpet. Dirt just keeps piling up and with time it gets harder to clean your carpet and it even takes longer and longer.

A month ago I ordered a machine wash of my carpets. They took the carpets literally from my door and brought them back. And it was cheap. After that cleaning is a breeze. Now it takes half the time before the wash to get the same effect.

As cats shed at least once a year it is definitely a good idea to do a full carpet cleaning once or more in a year.

Cat Hair Removing Broom (100% natural rubber bottom)

Cat Hair Removing Broom

This is absolutely the best broom for pet hair. It is even specially designed to remove fur from most surfaces in your home and combined with the price (very affordable) it makes it extremely helpful and one of the best products out there to remove cat hair.

The broom is even named as FURemover broom which should tell you how much attention it has been given to this specific function.

What is the main reason for its huge success (just check the gigantic number of positive reviews from people)? The rubber itself: the bottom part of the broom is made of 100% natural rubber. Rubber is a  material with excellent electrostatic properties that attract hair naturally and make cleaning multiple times easier.

The rubber material is excellent in picking up cat hair and easily removing it from:

  • carpets – including stair carpets
  • rugs
  • hardwood
  • linoleum

On top of that, it is great to cleaning liquids from the floor: it has a special part called squeegee edge which is very effective for cleaning flat surfaces and spills while the brush is better used with carpets and rugs.

The handle is adjustable and can be shortened or extended according to your needs.

Easy maintenance: just wash it with soap and water and this rubber broom is ready for the next task.

This is truly a hidden gem that I have recently found and I’ve been amazed by all the positive opinions on this little hair remover. It is so little that it is even hard to take it seriously but it turns out it works amazingly well.

The magic lies in the rubber edge because rubber is known to attract cat / pet hair like magnet.

There are so many happy reviews for this product that it is hard to pick the best ones to describe the Lilly brush (cute name too) but this one is worth watching – the lady is I would say so shocked and thrilled with this little fur remover (that you will have to laugh 🙂 ).

It’s such a simple tool that will gather cat hair like crazy from all kinds of surfaces – and the price is also crazily affordable! The best way I would describe this little cat hair remover is a must-have for every cat owner.

Remove Pet Hair With Rubber Gloves

Here is a great video I found that shows how to remove cat hair using a plain everyday item like dishwasher gloves:

This is a perfect cat hair remover for many reasons, one of the most important ones is that you can prevent hair from covering your home elements by using it. As they say:  better to prevent than to cure. Besides the practical side of collecting cat hair, your cat will also love it. Cats love to be pet and this will only come naturally to it.

It will enjoy the grooming and you will actually help its job – which by the way is not easy at all. Just imagine the surface the cat needs to cover on a daily basis and sometimes even more than once a day! If you had a cat that was not supposed to lick itself (like after the vet) then you certainly know what a large portion of a cat’s life goes into its grooming. We once had a cat that even hated being touched after it cleaned itself!

A rubber glove works in a way that hair will stick to it and you can just peel it off the glove and throw it away. I would use it on fluffy blankets as it will reach deeper into the material and remove stuck hair from it. You can also use it on a thick carpet to remove cat hair deep in it.

How to Get Pet Hair Out of Carpet – The Modern Way

I had to include these automated ways of removing pet hair from carpet because they are so easy and convenient – but they are also more expensive. If you have the money make your life easier with one of these vacuum robots.

I personally would have gotten one of these robots but I live in a very small apartment and it would be overkill to get one for just a small carpet. But if I lived in a bigger house no doubt I would have saved the money.
