All cat owners have probably been in a situation when they buy an awesome cat bed, something they thought their cat will love – only to have their cat completely ignore the bed after the initial sniff.
And it’s something that happens so often that maybe you even fear getting a new bed for your cat. After all who wants to throw away money?
But when you go into a pet shop and you see all those gorgeous cat beds you simply want to get one for your cat! They look so comfortable, so warm and you want your cat to feel good and even spoil it a little bit.
So I have discovered one type of bed that your cat will love and this includes all cats, even those that usually hate every cat bed.
It was completely by accident, and I find is so strange that most of my best discoveries in life were made totally by accident.
So let me tell you how the story goes:
I had one of those wonderful fluffly cat beds, with high sides, a creamy one, so soft and heaven like.
It was intended to warm my cat when she gets too temperamental and I have to put her in my hallway. My hallway is usually colder than my room as I keep them separated with a door and I only have heating in my room.
Having high sides and being so warm I thought it was the perfect bed for my cat, my arm would sink in the soft material. How could she not love sleeping in it?
But guess what: she NEVER slept in it! She even preferred the little hallway rug as a napping spot.
This lasted for a year or two and I though she simply didn’t like the spot where the bed was, but as my hallway is small there was no other choice.
So next to my building a few years ago asomeone opened a totally inappropriate caffe bar which at night transforms into a disco with annoyingly loud music. It’s been driving me insane to the point that on weekends I sleep in my hallway!
As it gets colder I remembered my parents gave me a very thick blanket made from pure wool. One weekend I pulled it from my closet and decided it will be my bottom layer to keep me warm. The next morning I rolled it and put it in the place of the cat bed – which had to go as there was no place for it anymore.
So here is a picture of what happened the first time I put Puffy in the hallway when she started jumping all over me while I worked:

She had found the warmest, most pleasurable spot in the hallway all by herself! I didn’t have to put catnip there, I didn’t have to introduce her to this blanket – nothing, she did it all herself.
So what was it that made her love this blanket instantly?
It was the material it was made of – a high qulity, natural wool.
And this made me realize the kind of bed a cat will never reject – it must be made of wool, that wonderful natural material that is warm in winter, keeps cool and doesn’t make you sweat in summer and always breathes naturally all year long.
My experience showed me that you can buy the most beautiful looking cat bed, the most comfrotable looking one but if the material isn’t right your cat will not like it. It turns out it is all about the material, not the looks, not the shape.
Let me share again how she has comfortly positioned herself on top of this warm, wool blanket:

I love it so much when my cat feels good and comfy 🙂
What to Look For When Buying a Cat Bed?
So my best advice is to get a cat bed made of wool: you won’t have to convince your cat to use it, it will come naturally, and this is what every cat bed should be like.
About the shape I would say this depends on each cat individually: if your cat is a timid one then a secluded bed (like cave or tent shape) will be more convenient. But the most important thing to check is the material of the cat bed.
While browsing around the internet I came across a great cat bed and if you are thinking of getting your cat a new bed this is my warm recommendation:
A Cat Bed Your Cat Will Like

Before you continue reading please note there are many colors of this cat bed – I chose the black-blue combination as my favorite one, but you can find other combinations that will match your cat colors (not your apartment colors) – very important not to show cat fur on it.
The thing that makes this cat bed so special is that it is made of 100% Merino wool and on top of it it is handmade! This means your cat will be warm in winter but cool in summer due to the amazing abilities of the wool. It truly doesn’t get much better than this.
As proof, I have separated this testimonial from a cat owner whose cat hated cat beds – but not this one and we know the secret why 🙂
A thick, soft, comfy, and overall very well-made cat bed that will be worth every penny spent on it.
It is spacious enough even for bigger cats.
The bed is specially designed to keep its shape in case you thought about it.
Oh not to forget: it comes with a little wool ball for playing – if you have a kitten or a playful cat they will surely appreciate it.
Honestly, this cat bed will not disappoint you and it is one of the best cat beds that exist on the market. Your cat will love it and it has a shape and colors that are modern and will make your home look more interesting and contemporary.
